We were looking for a way to access
our motorsportreg.com event registration information on the go and at the track. We couldn’t find anything on the market so we built it! We had two goals with the beta version of our mobile application.
1. On the Go -> Check driver registrations for each of our events via a mobile web app on our smartphones without having to log intomotorsportreg.com. It also had to work on android and iphones.
2. At the Track -> Rather than printing out tons of driver registration lists for each staff member that works the gate, we wanted them to be able to pull up all the drivers registered and be able to view basic information about the driver such as vehicle year, make, model and color. Our next requirement for this feature was it had to work WITHOUT internet access as sometimes the tracks are out in the sticks with no 3g or 4g data access. It also had to work on android tablets such as the Xoom AND on the iPads.
I pleased to announced we have built such an app/mobile web site. Using the latest HTML5 technology we were able to accomplish all the above. We have 3 more events for 2011 and will be using the app to make our life a little easier at the track. Keep in mind the app is still a “Beta” app. We have a large list of functionality we will be adding over the coming months.
